About Healthy Paws

At Healthy Paws, we offer a Fresh-to- Frozen system of products that captures food's nutrients in their richest state. We are dedicated to providing quality ingredients and a superior method of handling for our entire dog and cat food offering. We have developed a wide variety of food products for pets to achieve a balanced diet through natural sources.

Our Philosophy

Healthy Paws was inspired by the principles of the “biologically appropriate diet” created by the renowned veterinarian, Dr. Ian Billinghurst. He observed that cats and dogs fed a natural, whole food diet were healthier than when fed a cooked and processed diet. At Healthy Paws, we have refined this concept by working with our consumers and retailers and by ongoing collaboration with trained pet nutritionists.

We Believe

We respect that cats and dogs have particular biological needs. While we love them as part of our families, we must be aware that they are entirely different species with distinct anatomical and physiological systems. A carnivore’s teeth and shorter digestive systems are good examples of these differences to humans.

A balanced diet delivered through a broad base of foods in their natural state is more beneficial than a diet comprised of cooked and processed foods with additives and supplements. Fresh-to- Frozen for cats and dogs is an excellent holistic delivery of their natural requirements, providing improved digestion and nutrient absorption.

Ingredients and Process

Our goal is to deliver a balanced and complete diet comprised of human-grade ingredients. We use simple grinding and mixing processes to ensure a fresh and consistent blend of ingredients. We form these mixes into a convenient variety of formats and sizes, catering to the size and number of your pets. The product is then frozen; locking in the natural nutrition until you thaw it to provide a delicious and nutritious meal for your pet.

Why Choose a Fresh Diet?

Cats are carnivores. Dogs are scavengers/carnivores. As such, their digestive systems are designed to derive their nutrition from the consumption of other animals and small amounts of nutritious plants. Ignoring this reality and feeding a diet with grains can lead to malnutrition and other complications. Ideally dogs should be fed a diet comprised of at least 70% meat and cats over 90% meat. This is the basis for the Healthy Paws diets.
